Since this month's theme is all about summer vacation, we thought it'd be fun to share some photos of our summer travels. Here's what a few of our crew members were up to...
Bonny Kitty Cutlass (A.K.A. Kathryn Holmes)
"My husband and I try to fill each summer with staycation goodness, taking advantage of everything NYC has to offer. Here, presented without shame despite the chocolate on my face, is a photo of one of our summer rituals: Steve's Key Lime Pie in Red Hook, Brooklyn. We hop on the bus and head there at least once every summer to get Swingles—frozen key lime pie tarts dipped in dark chocolate and served on a popsicle stick. This year, I tried their newest flavor, which had raspberry jam. Amazing!"

Back from the Dead Red (A.K.A. Ellen Goodlett)
"I haven't been on my big vacation yet -- that will be my three week trip to the UK this September (two weeks of fun and a week of meeting my UK colleagues, yay!) -- but I did get to go to Sacramento for a work trip. Here's a shot of the old town, which has a gold rush museum and a very cool underground tour. Loved learning about some of the town's history! I also enjoyed the tourist shop with a Tardis entrance, the abundant fresh produce, and the ridiculously spicy food that was still delicious despite making me cry at every meal. Yum!"
Lady Byrd Bonebreaker (A.K.A. Sara Biren)
"Every August, we spend a week at a cabin in Hayward, Wisconsin: tubing down the Namekagon River, mini-golf, lumberjack show, campfires, fishing, flea market, relaxing at the beach. The Hayward Lakes area is fantastic, with beautiful landscapes and a fun resort town. Because most of my manuscripts take place in a similar setting, this vacation is always very inspirational to me.

Brunhilde the Black-Hearted (A.K.A. Rachel Searles)
"My husband and I spent most of our summer this year moving to a new neighborhood in L.A. (90210, baby!) and preparing for the upcoming arrival of our daughter, but in late May/early June we did take a long trip to Turkey. So here's a photo from the southern coastal town of Bodrum, where we traveled with friends and boarded this gulet, a traditional Turkish wooden boat, for five fun days at sea."
Curly McGee (A.K.A. G. Myrthil)
"Like Kathryn, I love a good stay-cation. My husband and I usually head out of town during the spring or fall, so this summer we took advantage of our area of Connecticut, especially the beach! Here's a photo of our local beach, where we spent every free weekend. We also rode bikes, barbecued, and spent time with family and friends. It's been a great summer!"
Captain E. Hook (A.K.A. Erin L. Schneider)
"My husband and I spent the first week of August in NYC -- it was his first time there and I had so much fun taking him around! We saw WICKED on Broadway, ate at the amazing Del Posto (Mario Batali restaurant), went to the 9/11 memorial and museum (definite highlight of the trip), ate Shake Shack burgers, strolled through Central Park, traveled by subway, and of course, went to the top of the Empire State Building. AND...I got to meet two YA Buccaneers in person: Ellen Goodlett and Kathryn Holmes -- what an incredible trip!
