Top Reads of 2015

Here it is - the last post of 2015, where we're sharing our favorite reads of the year!

Bonny Kitty Cutlass (Kathryn Holmes)

Picking a single top book is so hard! I'll say CARRY ON by Rainbow Rowell. I really, really loved it. I loved the way it commented upon and paid homage to the Harry Potter series and other magical stories while also reenvisioning them for the contemporary world. I loved the story's twists and turns. I loved the characters—especially Simon and Baz. Oh, Simon and Baz... *heart-eye emoji*

Guppy Guts Skullcracker (Heidi Sinnett)

My top book for 2015 is definitely BIG MAGIC by Elizabeth Gilbert. I devoured this book about creativity at a time when I was really struggling to figure out my next move--and whether or not it was worth it to even have a next move in this ever-changing world of writing. Gilbert's advice on being allowed to create without a purpose for that creation really resonated with me, and I feel inspired and ready to try my hand at new projects in 2016.

Captain E. Hook (Erin L. Schneider)

My #1 read for 2015: SINCE YOU'VE BEEN GONE by Morgan Matson.

From Goodreads:

It was Sloane who yanked Emily out of her shell and made life 100% interesting. But right before what should have been the most epic summer, Sloane just…disappears. All she leaves behind is a to-do list.

On it, thirteen Sloane-inspired tasks that Emily would normally never try. But what if they could bring her best friend back?

Lady Byrd Bonebreaker (Sara Biren)

I absolutely adored THE ONE THING by Marci Lyn Curtis. Such a unique premise about a girl who has recently lost her sight - but can see a young boy named Ben - and must come to terms with the significant changes to her world. This book is funny and touching and you just can't help but love Maggie. And Ben. And Ben's brother, Mason.
