Spring 2015 Buccaneers Sentinel

It's been a while since we've shared a crew member writing update. Here's what's new with our crew!

Captain E. Hook (A.K.A. Erin L. Schneider)

My new editor at Disney-Hyperion started this past January and we're currently deep in revision land for my debut YA Contemporary, WHERE THE WATER FALLS. I also received my official pub date -- May 3, 2016! We hope to have everything wrapped up by this summer (all edits, cover, etc.)...which is perfect timing, because little Baby Boy Hook is due at the beginning of August!

Back from the Dead Red (A.K.A. Ellen Goodlett)

Unfortunately the publisher who bought what was going to be my 2016 debut, Egmont USA, closed their doors. So novel news is still pending while we search for a new home! In the meantime, I'm working with my illustrator friend on a comic short story for the 27 Anthology, all about members of the 27 Club.

Bonny Kitty Cutlass (A.K.A. Kathryn Holmes)

Since the last Buccaneers Sentinel, I…launched my debut novel. Here's a photo from THE DISTANCE BETWEEN LOST AND FOUND launch party at Books of Wonder in NYC!

Brunhilde the Black-Hearted (A.K.A. Rachel Searles)

I launched my second book, THE STOLEN MOON, in January, and I'm currently back in drafting mode. I'm going on a much-needed local writing retreat with some friends next weekend where I plan to work on a third Lost Planet series book and maybe dabble on a secret project--also MG--as well. Finally getting back into the writing groove after a long baby-mandated break!

Guppy Guts Skullcracker (A.K.A. Heidi Sinnett)

I just finished up my first major draft of a YA thriller called MANIAC, about a teen with mental health issues who lights fires, and is accused of killing a girl he was secretly in love with. Yep, light and fluffy as usual.

Also, in a BIG win for my little library, I had a really successful fall leading a Young Writers group for 23 tweens and teens, and now, I've just started a Teen Book Club that has seven members so far! (I'm so excited about this, I can't even tell you.)

Lady Byrd Bonebreaker (A.K.A. Sara Biren)

I co-hosted the Writer Recharge Challenge once again with four other YA writers in February - it was great to connect and write with others and I'm really excited for Bootcamp! During Writer Recharge I started a new project, currently titled IF YOU WERE HERE. It's a contemporary YA in dual POV (I swore I would never do that again!) and has significant musical elements.

I've also recently completed another round of revisions on the Manuscript Formerly Known as KEYS, which desperately needs a real title.

Shiver Me Timbers (A.K.A. Caroline T. Richmond)

We're moving to Paris! Okay, not really…just in my dreams. Aside from Parisian-daydreaming, I have been immersed in French history as I tackle revisions for my Summer 2016 book, which is about a spy ring in Occupied France during WWII. My editor recently sent me her revision letter, and so I've been a busy bee trying to tackle it whenever the Baby Overlord takes a nap.

What have you accomplished so far this year?

Psst. Our 2015 Spring Writing Bootcamp is starting very soon! Stay tuned to the blog, or sign up here for updates.
